Yibin Kaiyi Automobile Co., Ltd. Visited SCUPI

On the afternoon of June 13th, representatives from Yibin Kaiyi Automobile Co., Ltd. visited Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI). The discussions were held regarding joint scientific research, institute-enterprise cooperation, and related matters. The delegation from Kaiyi Automobile included Jingyu Bao, Director of the Product Management Center, Jieke Gong, Chief Engineer of the Product Line, Yuanfei Lu, Chief Engineer (Seat Design), and Jianbo Tang, Chief Engineer (Vehicle Layout Design), who engaged in discussions with the leadership team of SCUPI.

The SCUPI attendees included Dr. Minking Chyu, Dean of SCUPI, Dr. TZ Mai, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Kang Li, Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Ye Li, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Ms. Wei Tang, Director of Administration, as well as faculty representatives Dr. Shan Gong, Dr. Ruoliang Tang, Dr. Rong Yin, and Ms. Michelle Xue, Career Advisor.

During the meeting, Ms. Wei Tang provided a brief introduction to the Institute’s educational philosophy, mission, development process, distinctive  programs, student outcomes, teaching and research initiatives, and other relevant aspects.

Ms. Jingyu Bao presented an overview of Kaiyi Automobile’s overall situation and strategic development plans for the future.

Yibin Kaiyi Automobile Co., Ltd. was established in January 2014 with a registered capital of 4.727 billion yuan. It was originally a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. In December 2017, following changes in equity, Kaiyi Automobile relocated to Yibin and was renamed “Yibin Kaiyi Automobile Co., Ltd.”

Kaiyi Automobile is a large-scale emerging industrial enterprise strongly supported and developed by the Sichuan Provincial Government and Yibin Municipal Government. It serves as a leading engine in Yibin’s efforts to build a billion-level automobile industry.

During the discussion, both parties engaged in intense discussions regarding potential areas and directions for cooperation. They actively explored the possibility of establishing a joint laboratory for human factors engineering and agreed to promptly conduct feasibility studies and research.

SCUPI will continue to advance its existing engineering disciplines, elevate them to new heights, integrate intelligent majors to stimulate new vitality, actively explore coop opportunities, and expand resources, thus empowering SCUPI students to become outstanding engineers with a strong sense of mission.
