On May 27, the Information Science program seminar of the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) was successfully held at the Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI). Professor Daqing He, Chair of the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems at Pitt’s School of Computing and Information, attended the event as the keynote speaker.

At the beginning of the presentation, Professor Minking Chyu, Dean of SCUPI, introduced the guest speaker.

At the session, Professor He first provided students with a comprehensive introduction to the Department of Information and Networked Systems, covering aspects such as faculty resources and research projects.

Then, Professor He elaborated on the curriculum design of Pitt’s undergraduate information science program. He systematically outlined the core courses and presented employment destinations of previous graduates.

Furthermore, Professor He explained the specializations of the Master of Information Science program, as well as the practical and scientific research opportunities it offers. Then, he introduced in detail the postgraduate development and Information Science minor that students are more concerned about, taking into account employment data. During the meeting, the attending teachers and students asked questions enthusiastically, and Professor He answered them patiently.

The seminar concluded in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. This event not only enhanced our students’ understanding of the Information Science major but also expanded their options for overseas study and graduate program opportunities.
