On the afternoon of November 17th, led by Dr. Ye Li , the assistant dean for student affairs of SCUPI, along with Ms. Wei Tang, director of Administration, Dr. Yang Liu, Dr. Robert Lu, Dr. Rong Yin, Dr. Di Liu from Industrial Engineering, and Dr. Wenwen Xu from Materials Science and Engineering, as well as the academic affairs team, lab team, and student affairs team, a group of 60 students embarked on a study tour to JD Logistics Asia No.1 Chengdu Intelligent Industrial Park.

JD Logistics Asia No.1 Chengdu Intelligent Industrial Park is located in the southwest region. It serves as JD’s logistics center in this area, aiming to improve logistics efficiency, optimize supply chain management, and provide faster and more efficient services to businesses and consumers in the southwest region.

The core focus of this study tour was the intelligent warehouse system. This system achieves intelligent storage and efficient sorting of goods through automation technology. JD staff vividly demonstrated the operation principles of this system, emphasizing its excellent performance in improving inventory management and logistics distribution accuracy.

Afterwards, the group entered the central control room, which serves as the intelligent brain of the entire warehouse. Technical experts closely monitor every aspect of the warehouse operations here. Through highly intelligent data analysis and monitoring systems, they make real-time adjustments to ensure the efficient operation of the system. The visit to the central control room allowed students to deeply appreciate the crucial role of information technology in logistics management.

During the study tour, the group also visited the Automation “Feilang” project. This project utilizes advanced robotic technology to achieve unmanned picking, warehousing, and outbound processes through autonomous navigation and intelligent recognition systems. The 60 students had the opportunity to personally participate in the picking, shelving, and packaging processes, experiencing the efficient and fast logistics operations firsthand.

Through the visit, JD Logistics Asia No.1 Chengdu Intelligent Industrial Park showcased its leading position in the field of logistics in the southwest region. The warehouse not only provides strong support for the commercial development of Chengdu and the entire southwest region but also sets a new benchmark for the intelligent development of China’s logistics industry.

This study tour allowed SCUPI students to step out of the classroom and into the factory, integrating theory and practice in a beneficial way. It also provided guidance for students of different class in their professional learning, career choices, and career planning. SCUPI students will continue to enhance their professional knowledge and academic abilities, apply what they have learned into practice, and strive to become responsible future engineers.
