Two Sharing Sessions for 2024 Leadership Excellence Program Successfully Held

Session 1: Publicity Design
On October 31, 2024, the Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) held Two Sharing Sessions for 2024 Leadership Excellence Program in Classroom N209 on the Jiang’an South Campus. Ying Zhang, the student counselor for the Class of 2025, led the session.
At the beginning of the session, Teacher Zhang highlighted the importance of early-stage promotional design. She explained its significance in enhancing event participation, accurately conveying key information, and building a brand image for the activity. She also detailed important considerations for preparation during the early stages.
Then she introduced the essential elements of artistic design, including color schemes, elements, layout, and typography. She emphasized the importance of “highlighting key information” and encouraged student leaders to apply aesthetic techniques, such as complementary and analogous color matching, in their promotional efforts. She also provided examples to illustrate composition techniques and encouraged creativity in designing promotional materials.
Finally, Teacher Zhang shared examples of outstanding promotional works, which deepened the attendees’ understanding of the concepts discussed. The session concluded successfully, equipping student leaders with practical skills in creating effective promotional materials, a critical factor in organizing successful student activities.
Session 2: Efficient Work
On November 22, 2024, SCUPI held the second sharing session for the 2024 Leadership Excellence Program, focusing on Efficient Work. The event took place in Classroom N211 on the Jiang’an South Campus and was led by Xiao Zhang, the student counselor for the Class of 2027. The session aimed to improve students’ execution skills, foster good work habits, and enhance the efficiency and quality of student work.
Teacher Zhang introduced the concept of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as an example of maintaining fundamental principles in office work: simplicity, detailed steps, and standardization of content. She also stressed the importance of organizing files systematically, using standard fonts, and applying appropriate document formats.
Next, she emphasized the importance of timeliness, urging student leaders to avoid delays, keep records, and retain original documents to prevent unexpected issues. She identified common problems in student leadership work and provided actionable suggestions, including:
- Ensuring content accuracy through deep thinking.
- Adopting a results-oriented approach, with timely updates on progress and outcomes.
- Enhancing work and management methods through critical thinking and innovation.
To further support efficiency, she introduced practical tools such as Tencent Docs, Feishu (Lark), and Canva.
This session, part of the 2024 Leadership Excellence Program, provided systematic guidance on fundamental office practices, laying a solid foundation for the orderly execution of future student work.
