On March 15, 2018, all juniors and 4 sophomores majoring in Industrial Engineering visited Tongwei Solar Chengdu Manufacturing Base in Shuangliu.

After watching a short video which introduces the history and development of Tongwei Solar, students had a first impression of this giant in solar industry. Tongwei Solar masters the core knowledge of producing photovoltaic (PV) battery, and it is the leading company in this industry. After research, development and manufacturing, the manufacturing base can produce 3800MW of PV battery up to now, and it aims to expand the scale to 10GW, which is more than twice of the present scale in the next three to five years. At the same time, the manufacturing base produces PV battery all the time without any stop, and all its products are sold out.

Then, students visited the S2 factory with the highest manufacturing scale in the world, which is the full automatic production line with the help of robot arms, automatic guided vehicles, and so on. In the factory, students can watch the actual production in the specially designed places. And the narrator introduced to us about the six steps to produce PV battery. For example, the PECVD process aims to increase the penetration of sunlight and increase the utility of the product. Most students listened, watched, thought about what their have learnt in Industrial Engineering, and talked with narrators about the production process.

After that, students walked in the Manufacturing Base to know about the facilities in the base. Then, in the conference room, students learnt about the principle and application of PV battery, and learnt more about Tongwei Company. At this time, students are deeply impressed with Tongwei which is more than a solar company.
