On November 1st, Dr. Minking Chyu, dean of SCUPI led a delegation of leadership and professor representatives to conduct research and discussions at Intel Chengdu. Ms. Junhong Xu, Manager of Education and Corporate Social Responsibility at Intel China Public Affairs Department, Ms. Yupei Liu, Intel Higher Education Program Officer, Mr. Runxing Yang, Intel Big Data Expert, Engineer Mr. Linchen Li, Intel Industrial Engineering Department, and Mr. Xinyu Wu, Class 2020 graduate of SCUPI, attended the meeting. Dr. TsunZee Mai, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. James Li, Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Ye Li, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Ms. Vivi Tang, Director of Administration, as well as professor representatives Jianzhao Li, Shijie Bian, Guangwu Qian, Yang Liu, and Ms. Shuang Xue, career advisor also participated.
Engineer Linchen Li led the delegation to visit Intel Chengdu and provided detailed introductions on Intel’s corporate culture, development process, and product information. Intel is one of the earliest multinational companies to enter Chengdu and has made the largest investment in the city. The Intel Chengdu factory is not only the largest packaging production base but also one of Intel’s largest chip packaging and testing centers worldwide. It has become one of Intel’s three global wafer pretreatment factories. Half of Intel’s global mobile device microprocessors come from the Intel Chengdu factory. July 10, 2023, marked the 20th anniversary of Intel Chengdu factory.
The purpose of this research visit was to further connect the needs of industry-university integration accurately and promote cooperation implementation. Junhong and Yupei respectively introduced Intel’s corporate social responsibility, cultural activities, higher education cooperation projects, etc. Data expert Runxing shared his firsthand experience as a mentor for universities and guiding undergraduate senior designs. SCUPI alumnus Xinyu Wu exchanged his work experience and growth at Intel over the past two years, expressing deep gratitude to SCUPI and Intel.
During the visit, as part of the series of actions to expand collaboration with enterprises, Dean Chyu introduced the cooperation overview and future development plans of SCUPI to the relevant company officials. He hoped that both sides would actively promote and deepen cooperation in various aspects and fields such as internships and employment, curriculum development, competitions, scientific research, and social contributions, providing more resources and support for the growth and success of college students.
The visit was a strong initiative by SCUPI to integrate its educational characteristics, deepen industry-university cooperation, and match supply and demand. Next, SCUPI will actively integrate resources, build platforms, and help students become future engineers with a sense of mission and responsibility.
