The Series of Postgraduate Program Seminars in April Successfully Held

From April 17th to 26th, the series of postgraduate program seminars organized by the Career Advising Group (CA) of Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute(SCUPI) were successfully. This series of seminars covered various topics, including Joint Program Seminar, Overseas School Graduate Program Seminar, and Admission Guidance Seminar, setting up Q&A sessions to answer student’s questions and doubts. The seminars aimed to enrich students’ information channels for overseas education, not only helping students broaden their academic horizons but also providing guidance for their global educational journeys.

Sichuan University Joint Program Seminar was held on April 17, with teacher Keru from CA as the main speaker. Teacher Keru introduced the joint programs in detail with several renowned universities such as Waseda University in Japan, the National University of Singapore, the University of Ottawa in Canada, and the University of California in the United States. She explained the professional characteristics, application timelines, admission requirements, and related expenses of each collaborative program comprehensively. This detailed interpretation of information allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of the academic potential and research advantages of each program, providing clear guidance to ensure they could plan their application processes systematically and make scientific cost budgets.

Emlyon Business School Postgraduate Program Seminar was held on April 23rd. Ms. Chen, an admissions officer from Emlyon Business School, not only described the unique charm of France but also introduced the significant advantages of Emlyon Business School. Besides, she emphasized the close cooperation between the school and industries, as well as its comprehensive career support system, providing students with the resources available to them. Subsequently, Ms. Chen elaborated on the course structure and diverse curriculum content, highlighting the learning focus of the three specialized stages, introducing several programs in detail, including the MSC in Digital Transformation & Data Science, Lifestyle & Marketing Management and Finance & Strategy Consulting & Innovation. This presentation provided useful information for students who aspire to further their studies in these fields. Through this seminar, students obtained detailed information about courses and gained a more intuitive understanding of the educational disciplines and academic atmosphere of Emlyon Business School.

The Overseas Graduate School Admission Guidance Seminars International Session and Domestic Session were held both online and outline from April 24th to 25th by teacher Grace, from the Office of Study Abroad (OSA). In the first seminar, Grace focused on sharing contents of three majors: Industrial Engineering (IE), Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation (ME), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). In the second seminar, Gace added additional majors: Computer Science(CS) and Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE). Both seminar covered the positioning and planning of U.S. postgraduate applications, and provided professional advice on application planning for regions such as China Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Through specific application cases, Grace guided students to choose the most suitable postgraduate program based on their personal backgrounds and provided thematic answers to issues such as language problems and GRE-related questions for 2+2/3+1 students. She emphasized the importance of orderly application preparation, suggesting that students plan their application schedule for the entire senior year in advance, gradually enhance their hard skills and soft backgrounds, and lay a solid foundation for their future academic careers and career planning.

Waseda University Postgraduate Program Seminar was successfully held on April 26. Ms. Lan, the host from CA extended a warm welcome on behalf of SCUPI to Professor Xiang Hu, Dean of the Graduate School of Information Production Systems at Waseda University . Professor Xiang introduced the basic situation of Waseda University and the admission requirements for the IPS program, followed by a detailed explanation of the subject content and research areas. Finally, he showed the daily life and employment situation of Waseda University. Three outstanding students who have successfully been admitted to Waseda University, Liao Hongrui from ME, Jiang Yiwei from IE, and Liu Yipu from MSE, also attended the event and had a deep face-to-face communication with Dean Xiang Hu. This symposium provided valuable opportunities for students interested in pursuing advanced studies in Japan to directly learn about the application details and various information about life and learning at Waseda University.

As a model of cooperative education, SCUPI has been committed to providing an internationalized educational environment for students. The series of postgraduate program seminars fully demonstrated the extensive international cooperation network and its close attention to students’ enrollment and development, providing students with a broader international perspective and academic guidance.
