The 70 students were divided into two groups and led by professional interpreters to learn about the history and culture of Volvo, its manufacturing philosophy and production process, as well as the company’s focus on renewable energy and environmental protection. To make students have a better experience, the brand center also prepared some interactive facilities, such as resonating with the importance of seat belts by sitting on a sliding chair, understanding the necessity for cautious driving by simulating the reaction speed in dangerous driving situations, and experiencing the continuous progress of technology by feeling the interior decoration of different materials.
At the end of the visit, students watched a video of the production department of Volvo Chengdu Manufactory and gained a deeper understanding of the production line and the high-tech technology used to automate Volvo Cars. The professors also shared some professional opinions, helping the students better integrate the classroom knowledge into practice.
Meanwhile, to deepen the quality of talent cultivation and expand the resources of Institute-enterprise cooperation, the Institute members and Volvo human resources team discussed the opportunities including but not limited to internship and employment, research cooperation, and the training of enterprise employees, as well as actively promoted the next step of cooperation with the actual needs of both sides, striving to provide more resources and support for the growth of SCUPIANS.
