Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) has successfully completed its Academic Integrity Education Month, a series of events under the theme “Academic Integrity Matters, SCUPIans’ Commitment” held throughout October. The initiative was designed to foster a fair and just academic environment and to cultivate high-quality talents with a global perspective and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Key Event Highlights

1. Promotion of Academic Integrity

SCUPI made significant efforts to promote an atmosphere of honesty and trustworthiness. Online, we leveraged new media platforms to spread knowledge about academic integrity and to generate excitement for the events. Offline, we placed academic integrity posters and distributed SCUPI academic integrity brochures for students to learn at any time.

2.Lectures about Academic Integrity

To enhance students’ understanding of the importance of academic integrity, SCUPI organized two academic lectures on October 18th. Professor Jin Xu delivered a lecture titled “Upholding Integrity as the Foundation of Academia”, emphasizing the need for academic independence, rational thinking, and adherence to ethical standards. Ms. Qin Zhou, a subject librarian from Sichuan University Library, shared insights on “Navigating Academic Integrity Strategies for University Students on Proper Citation and Resource Utilization”, aiming to instill an awareness of academic integrity and to master academic writing methods.

3.Study Break Special Session

To engage students in a fun and interactive way, the Student Council hosted an academic integrity quiz event from October 16th to 18th titled “Study Break Special Session: Know about Academic Integrity”. Students participated in games followed by a knowledge quiz. It reinforced students to understand the academic integrity in a relaxed atmosphere.

4.Online Course on Ethical Standards and Responsible Resource Use

SCUPI organized freshmen to complete an online course titled “Navigating Academic Integrity in the Digital Age”.

I was deeply impressed by SCUPI’s emphasis on integrity and the strong promotional atmosphere. The well-designed knowledge boards and informative brochures further deepened my understanding of the significance of integrity. I pledged to uphold integrity in the future and contribute to establishing a good academic atmosphere.

A month of academic integrity education was a resounding success, with active student participation and a strengthened sense of academic integrity. SCUPI will continue to establish a good academic atmosphere, and cultivate more innovative talents who are upright, honest, adhere to scientific ethics, and dedicate themselves to scientific research.
