To keep in touch with alumni from all over the world, actively implement the Healthy China strategy, welcome the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, and promote the construction of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, on April 22nd, a global Alumni Cycling activity of Sichuan University with the theme of “Green Cycling · Start Again in the New Spring” kicked off in Guixi Ecological Park in Chengdu. Over 600 alumni, teachers, and students from Sichuan University participated in the activity.

During the event, completion of the 100km cycling challenge along Chengdu Greenway and a collection of 37 seals amount to winning the commemorative medal. There were 20 institutional check-in and supply booths along the 100km greenway, which were operated and safeguarded by faculties and students from 37 institutions, including Law School of Sichuan University, West China School of Public Health, School of Cyber Science and Engineering, West China School of Stomatology and Business School. At each check-in and supply booth, participants could experience the cultural exhibition, volunteer service, and alumni exchange activities, including but not limited to pro bono legal advice, sports injury prevention and rehabilitation free diagnosis consultation, anti-fraud class, oral first aid science popularization, traditional culture exhibition, and classical sports experience.

Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) also participated in this sports and cultural event and set up a check-in and supply booth with Institute characteristics at Xinghongqiao Point in Jincheng No. 3 Lake. This spot was not only one of the “post stations” for cycling alumni to rest and collect stamps but also a window to understanding and publicizing the humanistic style, professional characteristics, and Sino-foreign cooperation of SCUPI. At the event, the Institution’s mascot Pipi also made its debut. Its youthful and lively image attracted many participants to take photos. In addition, the Institute also gave a limited number of accessories to the people who joined the event, such as card holders, key chains, bookmarks, and more. These exquisite creative products were also widely loved by the participants.

The success of this activity indicated the vitality of the students at Sichuan University and enhanced the cohesion between the alumni and the Alma mater. Hence, we sincerely hope that more SCUPI alumni will return to their Alma mater and reunite with the Institute to participate in various cultural, academic, and professional activities and other themed activities to gather strength and shape the future together.
