Sichuan Highway Planning, Survey, Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. Visits SCUPI for Exchange and Collaboration

March 12, a delegation from the Digital and Intelligent Engineering Research Institute of Sichuan Highway Planning, Survey, Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Digital and Intelligent Engineering Research Institute of Shudao Group Highway Design Institute) visited the Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI).

Dr. Kang Li, Associate Dean for Research, Dr.Di Liu, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, faculty representatives from relevant departments, and the Career Advising Group attended the meeting. The delegation toured the SCUPI building, gaining detailed insights into the institute’s teaching facilities, experimental platforms, and international education environment.

Lubing Song , BIM Production Project Leader; Guoyan Shen , Product Leader; Ruodan Lu , BIM Research Leader; and Bo Wang , Senior R&D Engineer for 3D Collaborative Design System from the Digital and Intelligent Engineering Research Institute, introduced their enterprise’s practical explorations in intelligent construction, BIM technology R&D, and engineering applications. They engaged in in-depth discussions with institute representatives on potential collaboration directions including talent cultivation, research synergy, and technology transfer.

Dr. Kang Li provided a comprehensive overview of SCUPI’s educational characteristics, disciplinary development, and talent cultivation achievements. Dr. Di Liu, proposed entry points for collaboration focusing on industry-academia-research integration and professional curriculum development. During the subsequent free exchange session, Professor Yong Zhao from Computer Science and Technology, Associate Professor Changxi Wang from Industrial Engineering, and Associate Professor Qi Lu from Mechanical Engineering shared their respective teaching and research fields along with potential collaboration opportunities.

This symposium established an efficient communication platform and laid a solid foundation for cooperation. Both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening engagement and actively exploring in-depth collaboration in intelligent construction, BIM technology R&D, talent cultivation, and other areas to achieve resource sharing, complementary advantages, and synergistic development.
