SCUPI Lab Safety Lecture

On June 13, the SCUPI Laboratory team held a lecture on laboratory safety for students.

Ms. Caiping LIU explained the importance of laboratory safety to the students in an in-depth manner, taking the labs in the new building of SCUPI as an example. She firstly introduced the current utilization of the labs in the new building, the operation of the safety working group, and the advanced instruments and facilities of the labs.

Ms. Liu then gave a comprehensive overview of laboratory safety from multiple dimensions, including unsafe behaviors, unsafe environments, the law of safety production, and various accident statistics. In order to let teachers and students understand the importance of laboratory safety more intuitively, Ms. Liu also played several videos of laboratory accidents and made an in-depth analysis of the causes of accidents and unsafe behaviors exposed.

In addition, she explained in detail the common sources of danger in the laboratory, such as hazardous chemicals, gas cylinder and dust hazards, mechanical risks and static hazards, etc.

In the second half of the lecture, Ms. Liu introduced in detail the various safety measures in the laboratory, including the access system of the laboratory, knowledge of fire fighting, operational requirements, first aid methods and the use of safety facilities. She emphasized that only by strictly observing the safety regulations can we ensure the smooth operation of laboratory work and the personal safety of teachers and students.
