On April 1, 2023, a group of 20 students and teachers from Chengdu Yucai Middle School came to Sichuan University for a campus tour. Under the guidance of the Recruitment & Admissions Office of Sichuan University and the support of Sichuan University Library, the visitors were warmly treated by Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI).
The students and teachers first visited the library on SCU Jiang’an Campus. The library guide tour was led by Dr. Qin Zhou, a librarian of SCU Library Knowledge Service Center. In the exhibition hall, the students were impressed by the exhibitions on display.
The “Dongliang Column” located in the center of the library, signifying the fruits of human civilization and cross-cultural communications, also made the visitors linger.
Followed by a campus walk, the group then visited the laboratories of SCUPI. They were warmly welcomed by faculty and staff members from SCUPI lab and SCUPI TSA members.
SCUPI TSA members divided the visitors to several teams and led each of them to different labs.
Watching a robotic arm writing Chinese calligraphy, painting on a 3D-print Pikachu, and making a badge with a personal touch, were the students’ outstanding experience there.
The last stop of the campus tour was an information session. Ms. Mia Jia, the admission counselor of SCUPI, gave a short admissions presentation of Sichuan University and its joint program to the students.
Jingyi Chen, a current senior student who had just been admitted to the Master program for Industrial Engineering (IE) at Georgia Institute of Technology, also shared her learning and living experience at SCUPI.
“I absolutely had a wonderful visit today!” “You were awesome tour guides, making every moment fun!” The students gave our visit tour a thumbs-up.
“We believe that through on-site campus visits like today’s, our prospective students can have a more direct and concrete understanding of our incredible degree programs, and personally experience what it’s like to be a SCU student.” Ms. Mia Jia said.
