Recently, the second session of the Alumni Mentorship Program for the 2025–2026 academic year of Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) came to a successful conclusion. As a key initiative in deepening the Institute’s educational reform model, the program continues to build a bridge between alumni and current students. It selects outstanding alumni who are pursuing advanced studies at renowned domestic and international institutions or working in key industries both in China and abroad, providing comprehensive guidance to second-, third-, and fourth-year undergraduate students in areas encompassing academic development, research planning, and career pathways.

Building upon the achievements of the inaugural session, the second iteration of the program has been further optimized and upgraded, attracting a larger number of alumni from diverse graduating cohorts and academic backgrounds. Through a multi-dimensional evaluation framework, the Institute rigorously assessed the alumni’s credentials in academic research and industry practice, while also conducting careful screening of participating students based on their overall qualities and program compatibility. Ultimately, a two-way selection mechanism was employed to achieve precise matching between mentors and mentees, fully respecting the individualized needs of both parties.

This year’s alumni mentors are graduates from the classes of 2019 to 2024, currently engaged in advanced studies at leading universities worldwide or employed at industry-leading enterprises. Their academic specializations cover cutting-edge fields such as mechanical engineering and automation, and robotics, with several mentors pursuing doctoral degrees at world-renowned institutions. Mentors from the industry sector are deeply involved in high-demand areas including advanced manufacturing, intelligent driving, and new energy, holding core positions such as key account management, industrial engineering, production operations management, and overseas investment management. Throughout the one-year mentorship period, the mentors drew upon their first-hand experiences in graduate studies and professional careers, offering regular exchanges and thematic sharing sessions to help mentees broaden their perspectives, clarify their developmental trajectories, and enhance their overall competitiveness.

As a signature collaborative education initiative of SCUPI, the Alumni Mentorship Program has gradually cultivated a virtuous ecosystem in which alumni give back to their alma mater and pass on their legacy to successive generations. The Institute will continue to leverage this program as a cornerstone, continuously expanding the channels that connect alumni resources with the developmental needs of current students, and striving to nurture talented individuals with a global perspective and innovative capabilities.
