On November 20th at 7:00 PM, the Class Committee of Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) hosted a film screening event in Classroom N111, Jiang’an South Campus. The film was Heidi. With its breathtaking Alpine landscapes and touching storylines revolving around Heidi, her grandfather, and Clara, the film took students on a heartwarming and soul-stirring journey.
The Film tells the story of Heidi, an orphan who lives with her grandfather in the Alps. Heidi’s innocence and kindness melt her grandfather’s cold exterior, and the two share a heartwarming bond amidst the mountain scenery. However, fate intervenes when Heidi is taken by her aunt to Frankfurt, where she becomes a companion to Clara, a wealthy but wheelchair-bound girl. Although surrounded by the bustling city, Heidi’s heart longs for the freedom of the Alps. The story concludes with Heidi returning to her beloved mountains and, through love, helping Clara learn to walk again. In the end, both Heidi and Clara experience profound emotional growth, finding their inner strength through love.
The film is like an everlasting poetic ode to the soul, reflecting the profound meaning of “love and freedom.” The film demonstrates love’s transformative power to bridge divides and heal wounds, while freedom inspires us to break constraints and listen to our inner voices. It reminds us of the beauty and preciousness of human connections, encouraging us to cherish those around us and spread love wholeheartedly.
