On September 8, 2025, the Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) Alumni Association successfully hosted an alumni sharing session, welcoming back Jerry, a distinguished graduate from the Class of 2021. Centered on the theme “Independent Development in the AI Era and the ‘Ultimate’ Spirit of Entrepreneurship,” Jerry delivered an insightful and engaging presentation for current students. The event attracted a full-capacity audience, fostering a dynamic and interactive atmosphere throughout the session.

Jerry was admitted to the Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute in 2016, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. During his undergraduate years, he participated in the “2+2” dual-degree program and studied at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. With astonishing efficiency, he completed his studies in both Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science as well as a minor in Economics within four and a half years. His outstanding learning ability and planning skills laid a solid foundation for his future entrepreneurial journey.
At the sharing session, Jerry vividly recounted his entrepreneurial journey from the dual perspectives of a hardware developer and entrepreneur. He analyzed in depth the core elements of hardware entrepreneurship in the current domestic market environment and expounded on the inseparable connection and basic conditions for operation among product development, marketing, and production in the new era.

“Ultimate” was the keyword that Jerry mentioned most frequently throughout the entire sharing session. He advised his younger schoolmates that they should first have the courage to explore and find their true interests, and then devote their passion to them, striving to do everything to the “extreme”. He shared that it was precisely this attitude of pursuing excellence that enabled him to constantly breakthrough in his interdisciplinary studies during his student days and in his current entrepreneurial journey.
Furthermore, from the perspective of a recruiter, Jerry also emphasized that in addition to solid professional knowledge, comprehensive abilities such as communication, collaboration, and rapid learning skill are also indispensable core competencies in future careers. He concluded by encouraging everyone: Do not fear making mistakes; every setback is a precious step towards success.

During the subsequent Q & A session, students actively participated and engaged in in-depth discussions with Jerry on specific issues such as “How to efficiently complete dual major studies” and “Difficulties and breakthroughs in the early stage of entrepreneurship”. After the sharing session, Jerry continued to have one-on-one exchanges with the still eager students for a long time, patiently answering various questions.
This sharing session not only provided students with a valuable opportunity to have face-to-face communication with an outstanding alumnus, but also ignited their passion for future planning and entrepreneurial dreams!
