Topic: Course Learning Objectives and Assessment-Aligning What We Teach with How We Measure

Date & Time: Tuesday ,October 28, 2025, 12:30–1:30 PM

Speaker: Mushtaq Loan

Venue: SCUPI Building N-209, Sichuan University, Jiang’an South Campus

This seminar explores the “Constructive Alignment” framework, beginning with the development of precise Course Learning Objectives (CLOs) formulated with demonstrable verbs from Bloom’s Taxonomy. The core of the seminar then focuses on strategically mapping a diverse array of assessment types – from formative quizzes to summative projects and final exams -to these specific objectives. The focus then shifts to the systematic mapping of varied assessment types to ensure they validly measure the cognitive demands of each objective. The session will provide faculty with the tools to create a more coherent, transparent, and equitable learning journey for their students. Engaged in the critical appraisal of sample materials, participants will acquire practical skills to engineer a coherent and equitable curriculum, thereby creating a direct pathway from instruction to assessment that verifiably enhances student achievement.

All faculty members are cordially invited to explore and share unified approaches to aligning course learning with instructional assessment.
