The Study Break Special Session hosted by the Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) has successfully concluded. The event featured two engaging segments—“Defeat the Academic Misconduct Boss” and “Tossing Arrows Quiz”—allowing students to deepen their understanding of academic integrity while having fun.

Event Highlights
01 Defeat the Academic Misconduct Boss

The most captivating part of the “Integrity Collab” event was the “Defeat the Academic Misconduct Boss” challenge. Students transformed into guardians of academic integrity, taking on three fun levels to challenge the “Academic Misconduct Boss,” who wielded tactics such as misinformation, AI forgery, and chaotic citations.

At the start of the activity, students became “academic detectives,” rolling dice to select multiple-choice and true/false questions about the basics of academic integrity. Each roll of the dice was not only a test of luck but also a quick review of their understanding of academic norms. Answering questions correctly allowed them to deal “damage” to the boss based on the dice roll. This segment not only helped students clearly define academic misconduct, such as plagiarism and data manipulation, but also deepened their “sense of rules”—emphasizing that academic research must be grounded in honesty and integrity, and any attempt to gain results through improper means is a serious deviation from academic spirit.

This segment tested students’ skills and depth of knowledge. Participants first used rings to lock onto targets and then unlocked more challenging advanced questions, such as “How to Identify AI-Generated Text.” Answering correctly dealt additional damage to the boss. Through this game, students learned how to maintain academic vigilance in the information age and keenly identify various hidden forms of academic misconduct. With decisive ring tosses, they firmly secured the “correct answers” to academic integrity.

At the end of the activity, challengers had 15 seconds to memorize the correct APA formatting standards, followed by 10 rapid-fire questions. Each correct answer dealt significant “damage” to the boss. This final assault on the “Academic Misconduct Boss” ingrained the importance of academic norms deeply into every student’s mind—academic integrity is not an abstract concept but must be rooted in every detail, from citation formats to the accuracy and rigor of data presentation. These academic practices collectively build a solid defense line for academic integrity.
02 Tossing Arrows Quiz
In the Tossing Arrows Quiz area set up in the institute’s new building, a fun challenge blending ancient rituals and academics was in full swing. Students transformed into versatile scholars, experiencing the elegance of the traditional arrow-tossing game. By successfully tossing an arrow, they earned the chance to activate a gachapon machine, testing their “luck” to win exquisite gifts.
Precise arrow-tossing symbolized the focus and skill required to achieve academic goals, while the random gachapon draws metaphorically represented the opportunities and “luck” one might encounter along the way. At its core, the activity aimed to convey the importance of upholding academic integrity: any external “luck” must be grounded in solid “integrity,” and true academic honors are reserved only for those who adhere to integrity and remain down-to-earth.

**Event Summary**
This immersive, edutainment experience left a lasting impression about academic integrity. The three progressively challenging levels not only provided participants with fun and engagement but also helped them build a comprehensive understanding—from basic norms to discernment skills and practical application. This solid foundation will guide students to uphold integrity and pursue truth in their future academic endeavors.
