Event Recap | SCUPI Postgraduate Recommendation Sharing Session Successfully Held

On October 31, 2025, the Career Advising Group (CA) of Sichuan University–Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) successfully organized a sharing session on postgraduate recommendation. The event aimed to provide targeted guidance and practical experience for students interested in pursuing domestic postgraduate studies through the recommendation pathway. It featured outstanding students from the class of 2025—Ciliang Shao (CS), Lexiao Huo (MSE), Nuoxi Lin (IE), Yongchang Yin (ECE), and Zihan Zhang (ME)—who shared their successful experiences and personal insights.

The session was hosted by Ms. Keru Chen from the CA, who introduced each speaker to help attendees better understand their backgrounds and focus on relevant information.

Ciliang Shao opened the sharing by offering advice in four key areas: honorary titles, academic ranking, research experience, and competition achievements.

Lexiao Huo then systematically outlined key preparation tasks for the second and third years of university, detailing resume building and interview techniques to help students create a clear roadmap.

Nuoxi Lin summarized admission thresholds and characteristics of “strong/weak recommendation committees” at various popular institutions based on her experience, encouraging students with the motto: “Apply boldly once you qualify!”

Yongchang Yin provided a detailed breakdown of the recommendation timeline, required documents, and preparation tips. He shared practical advice such as using university email addresses and standardizing file names to enhance application competitiveness.

Zihan Zhang analyzed the selection logic for postgraduate recommendations, direct Ph.D. programs, and university choices. He shared carefully compiled data on recommendation difficulty levels and “strong/weak committee” insights specifically for Mechanical Engineering (ME), offering valuable reference for student positioning.

Additionally, Ms. Juan Peng, the Research Secretary of the Institute, provided important supplementary remarks, specifically addressing potential patent application issues that students might encounter during the preparation process.
