On November 9th, 2025, at 19:30, the Oral English Club series, jointly created by the SCUPI English Association and the Student Growth Association from “Global Horizons” Program, made its debut. The event was attended by SCUPI faculty members, Mr. David Jeffrey and Dr. Mathew Evans, who provided on-site guidance. Hosted by Sirui Li from SCUPI and Yanlin Huang from the program, the activity attracted enthusiastic participation from Chinese and international students.

The event began with two students, Miaoyi Zhang and Yueqi Han, sharing their English learning experiences, gaining widespread recognition from the audience. Yueqi’s method of accumulating novel expressions and boosting confidence through participating in speeches and drawing inspiration from the body language of film and television characters resonated with many attendees. Subsequently, a word-guessing game and interactive group sessions were enthusiastically launched. Throughout these activities, Chinese and international students communicated freely in English, quickly getting to know one another. This not only successfully energized the atmosphere but also effectively fostered teamwork, laying a solid foundation for communication in subsequent script rehearsals

The English film script rehearsal was a highlight of the event. Through group performances of classic scenes from movies such as Titanic and Zootopia, every participant was given ample opportunity to express themselves. The portrayal of Flash in Zootopia was remarkably accurate, while the performance of the Titanic scene earned praise from the foreign teachers. After the performances, students shared their insights, and the foreign teachers provided professional guidance to each group. Ultimately, the group performing Zootopia won the “Best Performance Award.”

This event provided an excellent platform for Chinese and international students to engage in English communication, effectively helping everyone improve their oral English skills. We will continue to organize a series of exciting activities in the future. Students interested in making international friends and enhancing their spoken English are cordially invited to join us. Let’s improve our skills through expression and foster friendships through effective communication!
