From April 18th to April 19th, 2026, the Student Innovation Forum (SIF), hosted by the SCUPI Student Council, was held at the SCUPI Building, Jiang’an South Campus, Sichuan University,.

Centered on the theme “Global Wisdom, Youth Perspectives,” the forum brought together students from over 10 Sino-foreign cooperative universities to discuss diverse and integrated education and holistic growth from a student standpoint.

01 Opening Ceremony

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs TsunZee Mai, delivered an opening speech, warmly welcoming the delegations from participating universities.

Focusing on the theme of “innovation,” Dean Mai shared profound insights, elaborated on the four core stages of innovation, and encouraged students to dream big, look to the future, collaborate sincerely, and engage in practice, embedding innovation into daily learning and life to truly take root.

He concluded by expressing his anticipation for the delegates’ presentations and once again welcomed all attending delegations.

02 Content

Main Forum

Delegations from participating universities gave short speeches on topics such as personal academic life, holistic development, and campus life. Using their own stories as entry points, representatives highlighted unique organizations and activities at their respective institutions, sharing distinctive features and best practices.

Poster Exhibition

Following the main forum, faculty and students moved to the poster exhibition area. The posters, rich in content and clearly themed, showcased each institute’s distinctive achievements and innovative explorations. Participants engaged in discussions, exchanged insights, and deepened inter-institutional understanding, building a consensus for collaborative progress.

Ice-Breaking Activities

A series of lighthearted ice-breaking games was carefully planned. They not only energized the atmosphere but also fostered friendly interaction among delegations, breaking down initial barriers.

Campus Tour

Accompanied by staff, faculty and students toured the new SCUPI building, experiencing the romance of life at Sichuan University.

Sub-Forums

At 9:00 AM on April 19th, the sub-forums commenced as scheduled. Centered on three main themes—student life and cultural adaptation, student learning and growth, and career planning—delegates shared relevant experiences and engaged in diverse, innovative, and productive discussions.

Seeking Common Ground While Preserving Differences, Cultivating Individuality

Delegations presented their unique academic calendar systems and training approaches, including differences in admission policies and faculty exchanges between Chinese and foreign institutions, ensuring personalized support for every student’s academic journey.

Rich and Diverse Activities

Highlighted activities included the “Global Village” from the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, the “Diligence Forum” from SWJTU-Leeds Joint School, and the “Carnival” from SCUPI, showcasing activity models popular among students and rich in cultural exchange.

Academic Exchange, Leading the Frontier

The sub-forums also addressed how academic exchanges—through curriculum design, research collaboration, etc.—help students adapt to cultural differences at home and abroad and gain insight into the essence of Sino-foreign cooperative education. Various exchange programs were discussed to help students approach academics and engage in research.

Throughout the sub-forums, diverse thinking and interactive exchanges added profound academic and cultural depth to this year’s SIF. We look forward to more vibrant and fruitful exchange events in the future.

03 Closing Ceremony

After a delightful cold buffet, Jiayu Shi, President of the SCUPI Student Council, delivered a summary speech, followed by reflections from several student representatives. Then, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs Di Liu gave a closing address, once again thanking the faculty advisors and students from all participating institutions. She expressed hope that the event would provide a platform for students in Sino-foreign cooperative programs to showcase themselves and engage in learning and exchange. It is believed that with collective efforts, Sino-foreign cooperative education will continue to reach new heights.

“First, I want to thank all the staff at SCUPI. As a participant, this event was fantastic. It also gave us a chance to exchange ideas with outstanding students from partner universities, learn about the current situations of different Sino-foreign cooperative students, and grow together. We shared valuable aspects of our own university as well. This experience was truly rewarding, and I hope more universities will join in the future.”
