Dean Minking Chyu Leads Delegation to Visit the NUS(Chongqing) Research Institute

On June 2, 2026, Dr. Minking Chyu, Dean of Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI), led a delegation including Dr. Vivi Tang, Associate Dean for Administration and International Affairs, and Ms. Lan Luo, Career Advisor, to the NUS(Chongqing) Research Institute for a research and exchange meeting. The visit aimed to consolidate the existing “3+1+1” joint Master’s program in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), further enhance the quality of talent cultivation, and expand development pathways for students.
The delegation was received by Professor Jingsheng Chen, Executive Deputy Director (Research), Ms. Wei Fu, Deputy Director (Education), Ms. Wanqiu Tan, Senior Director (Education), and Ms. Sijing Zhang from the Education Office of the NUS Chongqing Research Institute.
During the symposium, Associate Dean Vivi Tang provided a comprehensive overview of the Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI), highlighting its educational philosophy, organizational structure, major offerings, and internationalized talent cultivation model. Dean Minking Chyu shared the institute’s mission and vision, as well as its recent achievements in student development and the quality of postgraduate placements, while reviewing the outstanding performance of current students in the MSE program. Professor Jingsheng Chen and Deputy Director Wei Fu then shared insights regarding the development of research platforms, program operations, academic management, and student support services, respectively.

The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions on specific areas such as curriculum articulation, academic affairs management, and student development support. Both sides agreed to further consolidate and optimize the current joint cultivation program and strengthen exchange visits to collaboratively foster the development of internationalized talent in emerging engineering fields.
Moving forward, both institutions will continue to deepen their collaboration, striving to create an even higher-quality platform for students’ international advancement.
