From August 3rd to August 24th, 2024, the “Dachuan Vision” student cultural study program at the University of Porto in Portugal, organized by Sichuan University and hosted by the Sichuan University Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI), concluded successfully. The program aimed to provide students with a deep understanding of European history, art, and culture. Designed by the University of Porto, it attracted six students from four different colleges of Sichuan University.
The program adopted a teaching model that combined classroom instruction with extracurricular practical exploration, jointly taught by Professor Claudia and David from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto. In the classroom sessions, Professor Claudia started her lectures from the Classical Antiquity period of ancient Greek culture, covering topics such as ancient Rome, the Renaissance, and the history of Portugal. Her insightful content enhanced students’ understanding of different languages, including English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Moreover, the program organized visits to the Porto Innovation Hub and UPTECH (University of Porto Technology and Innovation Hub). Through field trips and active exchanges with innovation experts, students gained insights into Porto’s cutting-edge practices and achievements in smart cities, digital transformation, and more. They also deepened their understanding of how scientific and technological achievements are transformed into real-world production and the operation of Europe’s leading start-up incubation models. This immersive learning experience, blending theory with practice, significantly sparked students’ interest in innovation and technology.
