On June 15, to further strengthen the relationship between students and outstanding alumni and pass on the impact of exceptional alumni, the CA team of Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) invited He Longfei, a graduate of the class of 2020, to return to the Institute and share his study and career experience from campus to society.

He Longfei (Third from Left) took a group photo with Dean Chyu (Second from Left), Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, TZ Mai (Third from Right), and the Administrators.

He Longfei was admitted to the Mechanical Engineering major of SCUPI in 2015. He served as Vice President of the Sichuan University Football Association, Football Team Founder Captain of SCUPI, and other student associations. Longfei was awarded the annual Outstanding Organization Leader of SCUPI and other honorary titles. In 2018, he went to the University of Glasgow, completed the dual-degree undergraduate program in 2020, and then entered Imperial College to gain a master’s degree in Medical Robotics and Image-Guided Intervention. After graduation, he joined GE Healthcare as an Edison engineering trainee, becoming a newcomer in the workplace.

In this sharing session, He Longfei first briefly introduced the British higher education system, the study and life in the UK, and the reasons for choosing to study in the UK. The British undergraduate system is generally three years, the Master of Science is one year, most research masters are two years, and the doctoral study needs at least 3.5 years. Students with a 985-degree background are more competitive, and UK institutions are relatively transparent regarding language requirements.

Second, he shared his knowledge of the medical imaging profession. The medical imaging industry refers to the field that uses various imaging technologies to acquire, process, and interpret medical images to help medical professionals diagnose, treat and monitor diseases. Medical imaging technology provides valuable information and tools for doctors to understand patients’ disease conditions better. When it comes to the reasons for engaging in the medical imaging industry, Longfei talked about the following four points: the job is full of social responsibility; stable employment prospects; technological innovation and challenges in the medical industry; the industry provides opportunities for continuous learning and improving skills.

Finally, after joining the company with personal experience and in-depth understanding, He recommended GE Healthcare’s Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP). The EEDP program is a trainee program to train future technical elites and technology leaders for GE Healthcare. Through two years of challenging job rotations in different departments and a series of rich technical and leadership training courses, program members can develop the comprehensive qualities of outstanding engineers and accelerate the development of core skills in technology research and development early in their careers. In addition, he also described GE Healthcare’s independent and efficient working atmosphere, inclusive and open corporate culture, and diversified career development environment. He warmly welcomed all students to join GE Healthcare to work together.

He Longfei Communicated with Dean Chyu and Dean Mai

In the Q&A session, He Longfei communicated with Dean Chyu, Dean Mai, and other students on academic planning and career development. Through this sharing session, students can have more clear goals and less confusion in diversified professional development and job choices. We welcome more alumni and current students to join our future sharing sessions.
