Alumni Sharing | First SCUPI 2 + 2 Dual-Degree Graduate Hu Xiyun Back to the Institute

On May 23rd, the CA team of Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) invited Hu Xiyun, a graduate of the first 2 + 2 dual-degree, to hold an alumni sharing meeting. Hu Xiyun also participated in the recent Senior Project Symposium 2023 and had an in-depth conversation with the senior students about their projects.

Hu Xiyun is a 2019 graduate who majored in Mechanical Engineering. During his undergraduate period, Hu chose the “2+2” dual-degree program. He went to the University of Pittsburgh in his third academic year to complete his undergraduate study. He achieved excellent performance, won the “University Level Third-Class Scholarship,” and was on the Dean’s Honor Roll. After graduation, he continued his postgraduate study at Purdue University for a doctorate degree, and his research field is human-computer interaction design in the context of mixed reality.

During his studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Purdue University, Hu took an active part in academic learning and social activities, accumulated rich overseas experience in academic and scientific research experience, as well as obtained a deep understanding of the campus culture and education system of the United States. In the alumni sharing session, Hu Xiyun shared his scientific research and learning experience, and had close communication with the faculties and students on many subjects, such as how to determine the appropriate scientific research direction, the employment opportunities and development choices of ME major, and the tips for applying for the university. This session covered daily life and learning experiences, provided valuable insights to the audience, and benefited students a lot.

The Alumni sharing session not only allowed current students to learn about the growth and experience of alumni but also further strengthened the ties between alumni and their Alma mater and better played the role of an example of outstanding alumni. The Institute will continue to organize various alumni activities to promote contacts and cooperation among alumni and provide more opportunities and resources to current students.
