Actively Deepen and Expand International Cooperation, Care for the Growth of Overseas Alumni – Dean of SCUPI Visited Waseda University and Alumni

On November 16, Dr. Minking Chyu, Dean of Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) visited Waseda University and alumni of SCUPI in Japan. This visit aims to deepen the cooperation between our Institute and overseas universities, broaden the overseas dual-degree program and postgraduate study pipelines, and strengthen the connection with alumni to promote the better development of the Institute and the Sichuan University.
Dean Chyu held a discussion panel with the dual-degree alumni, reviewed the students’ previous study life at SCUPI, learned about their current situation in Waseda, and jointly discussed the difficulties they encountered in studying overseas and the future study and development plan. Waseda alumni sincerely thanked SCUPI and faculties for their hard work. During this visit, the alumni who are studying tea ceremony performance invited Dean Chyu to watch her tea ceremony performance.
Since the first class of 2015, more than ten alumni have participated in the Waseda 3+1+1 dual-degree program or continued to pursue doctoral studies in Waseda. The alumni and graduates of SCUPI are growing day by day. After graduation, alumni gave full play to their strengths in Internet enterprises, government agencies, and other units and fields and actively demonstrated the mission and vision of SCUPI students.
Currently, SCUPI is actively promoting the establishment and development of the alumni association, organizing alumni activities, building alumni platforms, recruiting alumni mentors, and hoping to serve alumni in a more diversified and high-quality way. At the same time, we sincerely hope that more alumni can join the SCUPI family, maintain close contact with the Institute, play the role of collaborative education and mentoring better, and contribute to the construction and development of the Institute and Sichuan University.
In the next step, we will gradually visit the alumni in different places. Welcome back, alumni! We are looking forward to more reunions and gatherings in the future!
