On March 25th , 2018, Sichuan University – Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) held its third Open Day.More than 100 senior high students and their parents participated in this event. 【 Engineering Open Class 】 Michael Reed, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of SCUPI, presented the engineering class through the flipped-classroom model. Professor Reed used MATLAB to show the mathematical modeling, simulated the sound and the tuning process of the piano, and thereby explained the working principles of the piano.
【 English Open Class 】 English instructor, Caroline Ward, overturned the conventional English class by actively engaging students into dialog-driven group interaction. 【 MakerSpace 】 Lab engineers and student volunteers introduced 3D scanner, 3D printer, robot models that students have made, and other equipment and machines to the students and parents.
