To implement the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people, further enhance the career planning and employment guidance services for students, and provide practical and effective guidance for students who are about to enter the job market and apply for summer internship, the Career Advising (CA) Group held a resume workshop for career planning for junior and senior students in the afternoon of March 10, 2023.

The Career Advisor, Michelle, shared information including but not limited to job application timeline, developing transferable skills, integrating and collecting industry information like internships and full-time jobs, and resume writing skills. A tailor-made resume is not only a reflection of personal growth experience but also a door-knocker for HR and Admission Officers to identify the right candidate when they are “cream of the crop”. At the workshop, students actively participated and interacted, and further improved and modified their resumes to prepare for the summer internship application and job hunting in advance. The students were also fully aware that only by planning their careers in advance, clarifying their strengths and weaknesses, understanding the requirements of enterprises for talents, reasonably evaluating their abilities, and improving their employment competitiveness can help them stand out in the increasingly fierce competition for employment, and are good for their long-term career growth.

The Career Advisor, Keru, also reminded students to make full use of the Institute’s resources and the newly launched student management system. CA advisors can better track individual students’ trajectories and provide more customized resources and counseling services according to complete academic and development information. CA Group will actively seek help from the employment department of Sichuan University, and invite industry experts and senior HR to continue to provide one-on-one resume revision, mock interviews, career planning, and other consulting and guidance services to help our students grow into responsible future engineers and international interdisciplinary innovative talents.

CA Group will continue to expand the channels and platforms of Institute-enterprise cooperation, strengthen the connection and cooperation with the industry, as well as promote career planning, further study and employment services in multiple channels, forms, and levels through career guidance, enterprise visits, expert sharing, short-term trainee, internship referral, and job-hunting services, etc., sparing no effort to provide students with more personalized and precise guidance and support. The Institute is also in active contact with a number of enterprises, and planning to start with research and development of small projects from the industry-academia-research perspective, so as to provide students with classroom-application-practice modes of learning opportunities.

 

The Career Advising Group (CA) provides students with academic and career guidance activities, such as dual-degree program and postgraduate program information sessions, overseas and domestic graduate school application guidance, industrial experiences sharing, internship referral, and career counseling. The CA team strives to cultivate students’ strengths and empower their full potential. A series of planning activities throughout the four-year undergraduate will provide students with comprehensive and in-depth academic and career development guidance and facilitate SCUPIANS to become successful professionals!

Departmental function：

The Career Advising Group (CA) of Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute classifies different needs of oversea study application, postgraduate recommendation, postgraduate entrance examination, employment, etc., to create more accurate counseling services for SCUPI students. Counselors provide students with abundant resources and one-on-one consultation to help them comprehensively plan their development path. In addition, CA Group is making significant efforts to build an alumni association platform to gather alumni’s strengths to provide more diversified and quality resources for more students.
