Biography: Dr. Yumei Li is an Associate Professor and the coordinator of the English program at Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at the University of Houston, where she also held positions as a teaching fellow and postdoctoral fellow. Her teaching and research interests focus on international education, teaching English as a second language, and critical inquiry in education.

Robyn Najar, Ph.D.

Biography: Dr. Robyn L. Najar (BEd; MA Second Language Studies; PhD Educational Psychology) is currently an Associate Professor of Sichuan University at SCUPI. In addition, she holds Academic Status at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia where has been a Professor for 26 years, and from 2002 to 2016 Head of TESOL. Her work is in the areas of learning and cognition in foreign language (FL) and second language acquisition (SLA). She has developed and contributed to programs across Asia and the Pacific, living and working in China (7 years at Sichuan University); Japan (3 years at Kanazawa Institute of Technology); and Hawai’i (7 years at the University of Hawai’i). Her responsibilities include graduate supervision; EFL education; teacher education and training; program, curriculum, and materials development ‘in situ’. Robyn is a keen researcher in the areas of academic and research writing; FL teaching and learning; transfer of learning; and teacher efficacy.

Gamil Alamrani, Ph.D.

Biography: Dr. Gamil Alamrani – a Fulbright scholar, writer, and researcher. An associate Prof. in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies. Research interests include Rhetoric and Composition, Literacy Studies, Literary Theory, and World Literature. Published several books and articles in renowned academic venues including Cambridge Scholars, Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, King Saud, and King Faisal universities.

Mathew Evans, Ph.D.

Biography: Dr. Mathew Donaver Evans is an Assistant Professor at SCUPI where he teaches academic writing. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, he has been in education for over 20 years, focused on teaching writing, educational technology, and science communication. He earned his MA in Learning Technologies at the University of Texas at Austin and his PhD in Education at Arizona State University. Dr. Evans is driven by his passion for creating student-centered learning experiences that motivate students to learn by doing and through inquiry. He has taught at Zhongshan University (Zhuhai), Xiamen University, Arizona State University, and Srinakharinwirot University. As part of community engagement, Dr. Evans leads professional development workshops in student motivation and English as a Second Language.

Biography: David Jeffrey was a socio-economic researcher for several years before becoming a teacher of academic English writing. He has subsequently taught academic English writing for over three decades in Japan, the Middle-East, and the People’s Republic of China.
